I am a Socioenvironmental scientist (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, 2016) holding a Master’s in Anthropology with specialization in Visual Ethnography (Leiden University, 2018).
My PhD research investigates indigenous agriculture and food systems through the methodological practice of participative filmmaking. I expect to collaborate with the indigenous Kanamari living in the Javary Valley, at the Amazonian border between Brazil and Peru, to research their foodscape and its relationship towards other species that compose such gastronomic ecology. I am also interested in traditional food planting, processing, consuming and discarding techniques. Finally, I expect to identify the advancement of industrialized food into the Kanamari villages and relate these to the socioenvironmental transformations that their multispecies foodscape has been facing.
