Présentation des recherches

Working title: Ethnoracial dynamics in postcolonial DR Congo: the case of Sino-Congolese intimate relationships

Promoter: Asuncion Fresnoza-Flot

Supervisory committee members: Pierre PetitVanessa Frangville and Olivier Kahola Tabu

Drawing on multi-sited ethnography, this research project explores ethnoracial power dynamics within Sino-Congolese couples living in postcolonial DR Congo. It aims to use the intimate relationships as a primary site to understand the contextualised social construction of ethnoracial categorisations in China-Africa spaces and examine how ethnoracial boundaries are constructed and negotiated both in conjugal sphere and in contemporary social life in non-predominantly white societies.
